Custom Wrestling Shoes

There are many reputable wrestling shoes on today’s market. However, if you want to stand out in the crowd and awe the audience at your next tournament, you may go for a pair of custom wrestling shoes.

Custom Made Wrestling Shoes

Don’t expect a mainstream manufacturer like Asics or Adidas to create a custom pair of wrestling shoes for you. These companies specialize in creating shoes for the large masses so they will definitely not be interested in putting a lot of time and resources in researching and developing a whole new type of shoe – just for you – unless, of course, you can afford the bill. Unless you own a large club and want to get custom wrestling shoes for your students, forget about contacting large companies.

Hiring a shady company to design wrestling shoes for you from scratch is, again, a huge no-no. Granted, you will end up with a pair of uniquely looking shoes, but this doesn’t mean that they will do their job as a pair of original ones would. Remember, wrestling shoes aren’t the kind of shoes you wear at a formal business meeting, throw them in the wardrobe and forget about them for another two months. You will be putting in a lot of physical effort during training or a match, and you will need to feel as comfortable as possible while wearing them. A pair of poorly designed wrestling shoes can make you lose a fight or, worse, if they don’t have a proper grip on your ankle, you could even get injured. Don’t put the looks ahead of safety.

What you could do, however, is to buy a good pair of wrestling shoes and have them redesigned.

Customized Wrestling Shoes

There are lots of companies on today’s market that specialize in customizing any article of clothing you may think of, including sports equipment. If you really are after a pair of custom wrestling shoes – something unique and no one else wears – then your best call is to customize an old or a new pair. You can change their color or have them printed with your name or the name of your club.

Here are a few tips:

  • Go with a reputable company. If the office looks like the owner is “a man in a white van” then they are probably not the right ones for you. A company that customizes clothing, furniture, vehicles or whatever they may deal with must have some graphic artists that should have started by designing a pleasant appearance for their office. The same goes for online companies – if the site looks bad, they probably don’t care about their customers.
  • Stay away from spray painting. This may be the cheapest way to get a pair of custom wrestling shoes, but it’s the least durable way of customizing sports equipment. That paint might wear off the first time you clean your shoes. Go for something durable!
